Today more then ever, Texans are concerned about energy independence and security, energy costs, and environmental stewardship. There may be no greater challenge facing us today than developing new forms of energy to meet the ever-increasing demands of our world, while also protecting our environment.

We must figure out how to meet the energy needs of a planet that may have 10 billion people living on it by the middle of this century. That challenge comes into focus when you realize that of the 6.2 billion already on the planet, nearly 2 billion people do not yet have electricity. As more and more people around the world begin using electricity, and as we use electricity for ever increasing purposes, it becomes apparent to all that we have to find new ways to power our existing and future lifestyles. The development and use of our renewable energy resources as rapidly as we can is a critical part of meeting this challenge.

The success of the effort to develop renewable energy depends on people like you getting involved! It will be driven by policy and personal initiative.
